Mark Elison
Dr. Mark Elison is a seasoned hydrologist and geologist with over 30 years of experience in natural resource management and environmental science. Holding a Ph.D. in Geology from Northwestern University, he served as Manager and Hydrologist at the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC) Billings Regional Office from 2013 to 2025, overseeing critical water resource initiatives, including the installation of telemetered stream gages and participation in the Yellowstone River Cumulative Effects Study. His extensive technical expertise includes tools like ArcMap, StreamStats, and FlowTracker2, complemented by leadership in technical advisory committees and water user associations. Prior to his DNRC tenure, Dr. Elison taught at Billings Central Catholic High School and provided geologic consulting for oil and gas projects, alongside academic roles at Rocky Mountain College, Montana State University Billings, and Bradley University.
