The National Groundwater Association will be sponsoring National Groundwater Awareness Week from March 11 - 17, 2018. National Groundwater Awareness Week is meant to highlight responsible development, management, and use of groundwater, and includes participation from all levels of government, the private sector, students, groundwater professionals, and many others.

An interesting article on CO2 and groundwater quantifies just how much CO2 is released from groundwater depletion in the US and the world.
The British Geological Survey has released a global-scale quantification of nitrate stored in the vadose zone between 1900 and 2000. One of the study's conclusions is that areas identified as having high nitrate stores in the unsaturated zone are likely to exhibit delayed improvements in surface water and groundwater quality following reductions in nitrate input.
